Central St. Martins Collection
The jewellery in this collection plays with the almost dandyish fascination we have with fashions and decoration, over emphasising form and pattern to illustrate our dependence and subsequent enslavement of and by ourselves. For this reason I have mainly worked in leather, using it to symbolise a second, ‘animal’ skin, a representation of the fact that we use jewellery almost as armour, which both protects and constricts. Fusing the leather with precious materials and stones make the pieces opulent and the wallpaper designs unify the piece physically by running across the different materials.
The collection is mainly designed for a male wearer and consists of cocktail jewellery with a few catwalk pieces. The pieces are intended to heighten the wearer’s awareness of themselves.
